About Our Lady of All Nations Mission · Rincon, New Mexico
Our Lady of All Nations is a small Roman Catholic mission church in the village of Rincon, New Mexico, in the Hatch Valley along the Rio Grande. It is canonically a mission of the parish of Our Lord of Mercy in nearby Hatch, sharing its pastor, and falls within the Diocese of Las Cruces. Worshippers gather here for Sunday Mass in a centuries-old faith community that traces its roots to the original Santo Thomas de Aquinas church of Rincon, and the mission is officially dedicated as a shrine to peace.

Our Lady of All Nations is a tight-knit Hatch Valley Catholic community with a remarkable story: a 1950s fire, a community-wide rebuild, a peacetime dedication by a WWII veteran priest, and a century-old set of bells that still ring for Mass and funerals. Visitors are welcomed at Sunday Mass, First Saturday Latin Mass, weekly Wednesday adoration, and First Saturday confessions, all under the pastoral care of Father Ivan Torres — a young, locally-grown priest ordained in 2020 who also shepherds the parishes of Hatch and several mission communities.

History of the Rincon Mission
Catholic life in Rincon goes back more than a century. The village itself was founded in 1881 at the railroad junction where the El Paso line branched west toward Deming. The first Catholic church there was Santo Thomas de Aquinas, which burned in 1952. The entire community of Rincon rallied to rebuild it, and the new church was renamed Our Lady of All Nations by a priest who had been a prisoner of war in World War II, who dedicated it as a shrine to peace. The historic bells survived the fire and still ring for Mass and for the funeral doble.

The Lithuanian Connection
According to a Lithuanian-heritage history, the present small church of Our Lady of All Nations was built in 1953 by a Lithuanian priest, Father Justinas Klumbis, who served the Rincon parish (and the St. Francis de Sales church at Rodey, where he lived) from the 1950s until 1968. The same source credits Father Klumbis with formally giving the church its present name in 1959.

Our Lady of Šiluva Statue
On the grounds of the mission stands a statue of Our Lady of Šiluva, considered the only known Lithuanian religious site in New Mexico. The statue was originally part of an outdoor Way of the Cross on parish property; after that site was vandalized, the figure was moved and placed in front of Our Lady of All Nations. The church itself was later repaired with the help of the local Carson family, owners of the nearby Del Rio chili business.

Mass and Sacraments
Worship at the Rincon mission follows the simple rhythm of a small Hatch Valley community. The principal weekly celebration is Sunday Mass in English, with a First Saturday Mass offered in the extraordinary form (Latin). Confessions are heard before the First Saturday Mass, and a midday Eucharistic adoration is offered during the week.

Pastor and Parish Leadership
Our Lady of All Nations is currently shepherded by Rev. Ivan Torres, a 33-year-old priest born and raised in Las Cruces, a graduate of New Mexico State University, ordained in 2020, and pastor of Our Lord of Mercy in Hatch together with Our Lady of All Nations in Rincon and several other mission churches in the valley. He is described as a 'circuit priest' who travels constantly between his parishes to celebrate five Masses each weekend, and he is active in the wider Hatch Valley community through village council meetings, school boards, and a local coalition of nonprofits.
