St. Suzanne – Our Lady Gate of Heaven is a Catholic parish on Detroit’s west side, formed from the 2002 merger of St. Suzanne Parish (founded 1946) and Our Lady Gate of Heaven Parish (founded 1927). The parish describes itself as a community of disciples who witness, celebrate, and announce the Kingdom of God in the West Detroit area. St. Suzanne was founded by Cardinal Mooney and its permanent church was dedicated by Cardinal Dearden in December 1962, while Our Lady Gate of Heaven was established by Irish and Polish immigrants. Today the parish continues as a united family of faith, friendship, and worship.

History
St. Suzanne was founded by Cardinal Mooney in 1946 and its permanent church was dedicated by Cardinal Dearden in December 1962. Our Lady Gate of Heaven was founded in 1927 by Irish and Polish immigrants on Detroit’s west side. The two parishes merged in 2002.
