Parish History
Our Heavenly Father Parish was established in 2013 in Olmito, Texas, under the authority of Bishop Daniel E. Flores of the Diocese of Brownsville. The Diocese of Brownsville records the parish's creation as part of a wave of new parish foundations in the Rio Grande Valley during the early 2010s, alongside the establishment of ministries for immigrants and other deanery-level pastoral initiatives. The parish was created to bring the sacraments and the Eucharistic life of the Church directly to the people of Olmito, a small town in Cameron County situated between Brownsville and Los Fresnos. Since its founding, the parish has been bilingual (English and Spanish) and continues today under the pastoral care of a priest appointed by the Diocese of Brownsville.

Mass & Liturgical Schedule
The parish offers a rich bilingual liturgical schedule. On Sundays, Mass is celebrated at 8:30 AM in Spanish, 10:30 AM in English, and 12:30 PM in Spanish. The Saturday Vigil Mass is offered at 4:30 PM in English. A daily 9:00 AM Mass in Spanish is celebrated Monday through Saturday, and an additional 6:00 PM Spanish Mass is offered Tuesday through Friday.

Parish Ministries
Our Heavenly Father has a number of active parish ministries that serve the spiritual and liturgical life of the community. Three named ministries are listed on the parish's own website: a corps of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (Eucharist Ministers), the Sociedad del Altar (Altar Society), and the Grupo Mariano (a Marian prayer group).
Eucharist Ministers
The parish maintains a trained group of Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion who assist the celebrant in distributing Holy Communion at Mass and bringing the Eucharist to the sick and homebound. The ministry is open to confirmed Catholics who are formed and commissioned by the parish.
Sociedad del Altar (Altar Society)
The Sociedad del Altar is the parish's Spanish-language Altar Society, a traditional lay ministry that cares for the sanctuary, altar linens, flowers, and other liturgical furnishings. Members take turns preparing the church for the sacred liturgy.
Grupo Mariano
The Grupo Mariano is a Marian prayer group that gathers under the patronage of Our Lady to promote devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary through the rosary and other Marian prayers. It reflects the strong Marian tradition common throughout Catholic parishes in the Rio Grande Valley.

Diocese of Brownsville
