Spiritual Support Services
The Pastoral Care team offers a wide range of services to support the spiritual and emotional needs of those in the hospital. The team is comprised of priests and sisters and is dedicated to walking alongside patients and families during times of illness, decision-making, and end-of-life care. History of OSF Saint Paul Medical Center
OSF Saint Paul Medical Center traces its history to 1951, when it was first established to serve the Mendota, Illinois community. In 2011, the hospital — then known as Mendota Community Hospital — moved to a newly completed facility at 1401 East 12th Street. On April 1, 2015, the hospital was formally welcomed into the OSF HealthCare System as its eleventh hospital, renamed OSF Saint Paul Medical Center, and blessed and dedicated by Msgr. Paul E. Showalter, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. Today it is one of the largest employers in the community, with more than 300 employees dedicated to serving with the greatest care and love.
