Church of the Most Precious Blood is a Roman Catholic parish located in Chula Vista, California, part of the Diocese of San Diego. The parish was established in 1957 when a new church built on 4th Avenue (between Palomar and Oxford Streets) by local parishioners was renamed Most Precious Blood, separating it from the original Our Lady of Guadalupe parish that shared its early history. Today it is served by priests of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (O.M.I.) and ministers to a bilingual Catholic community, celebrating Mass in English and Spanish. The parish is also distinguished by its Perpetual Adoration Chapel, open 24 hours a day.

The parish grounds include a Perpetual Adoration Chapel open 24 hours a day, a robust music ministry, faith formation for children and youth, RCIA, marriage preparation, a Knights of Columbus council, Legion of Mary, Spanish Charismatic prayer group, and a St. Vincent de Paul conference that feeds and clothes the poor. Under the Oblate charism of St. Eugene de Mazenod, it is a parish that places service to the poor and devotion to the Eucharist at the center of its life.

History of Most Precious Blood Parish
Most Precious Blood Parish traces its roots to the Catholic community of Otay (Chula Vista) established as Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in 1944 under Bishop Charles F. Buddy. As the community grew, Pastor Father Jacob A. DeMoor purchased land on 4th Avenue between Palomar and Oxford Streets and the parishioners themselves built a larger church, which was dedicated in late 1958 and renamed Most Precious Blood. The original Spanish-speaking community returned to a separate site, and Most Precious Blood has continued as its own parish ever since.
Parish Life & Clergy
The parish is staffed by Oblates of Mary Immaculate priests. The pastor is Rev. Paul Dass Selvaraj, O.M.I., and the associate pastor is Rev. Marek Stroba, O.M.I. They are assisted by two permanent deacons and lay staff in the parish office, religious education office, and youth ministry.

Mass & Worship Schedule
Most Precious Blood offers daily Mass Monday through Friday at 8:00 AM, a Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:00 PM, and four Sunday Masses: 7:30 AM and 9:00 AM in English, and 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM in Spanish. A special First Friday of the Month Mass is celebrated at 12:00 PM.
Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith formation is offered through the Whole Community Catechesis (CCD / School of Religion), which provides Catholic education for children from pre-school through high school. Adult education is offered throughout the year, including the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) for those seeking to join the Catholic Church.

Liturgy & Music
Music is an essential component of the parish's liturgical life. The Music Ministry welcomes singers and instrumentalists to lead the community in its various liturgies. The Liturgy Committee helps arrange the liturgical environment for major feasts and oversees the implementation of liturgical details, meeting every third Wednesday at 7:00 PM.

Outreach & Service
Under the Oblate charism of service to the poor, the parish runs a St. Vincent de Paul Conference that ministers to the needs of the poor by providing food, clothing and other necessities on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Barbecue Dinner Committee raises funds for parish needs and provides a community social event.

Marriage Preparation
Following the diocesan-mandated nine-month preparation period, engaged couples are prepared for the Sacrament of Matrimony by sessions with the priest, a Pre-Cana conference day, an Engaged Encounter weekend, or a series of Evenings for the Engaged.
Parish Office & Facilities
The parish office is open Monday through Wednesday and Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (closed Thursday), with a lunch break from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Parish halls are available for rental by groups that meet the parish's usage guidelines. Wednesday night Bingo at 6:00 PM raises funds for parish expenses and provides a social activity.
