History of the McCormick Campus
The campus originated as the McCormick Memorial Home for the Aged, founded in 1921 by sisters Amelia and Sarah McCormick as a living memorial to their brother Michael. Bishop Rhode of the Green Bay Diocese placed the home under diocesan auspices and entrusted its staffing to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross (the Bay Settlement Franciscans). The first four Sisters arrived to find the building fresh from the workmen and themselves in temporary quarters at St. Joseph's Orphanage; they welcomed their first resident on April 23, 1921. The community marked 100 years of ministry to the elderly in 2021.

The Sisters Who Served McCormick
From 1921 to 2010 the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross formed the spiritual and operational backbone of the home. Sister Joanne Williams, who served as Administrator from 1984 to 1993, retired from McCormick in 2010 as the last of that community at the site. Across nearly nine decades, 73 Sisters served at McCormick, with their combined ministry adding up to more than 600 years of caregiving.
