History

Founded in February 1949, Maternity of Mary began with Masses in a parishioner’s home. By April 1949, a temporary church was built, and by August 1949, construction began on a permanent church, school, and rectory. The first Mass in the church basement was held on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950. The school opened in September 1950. The permanent church was dedicated in 1962, built in a modern Romanesque style with native dolomite sandstone and 144 stained-glass windows. Statues and windows from its founding parish, Saint Andrew’s, are preserved in the church and chapel. Six new statues honoring Mary’s maternity were commissioned. The parish is proud of its community and invites newcomers to join.
