About Mary Queen of Peace Parish
Mary Queen of Peace is the merged parish of Our Lady of Good Counsel and Corpus Christi, located on Pearl Road in Cleveland's Old Brooklyn neighborhood. Opened on April 25, 2010 with a Mass celebrated by Bishop Richard Lennon of the Diocese of Cleveland, the parish today offers spiritual, social, and academic opportunities for all ages under founding pastor Father Douglas T. Our History
The parish is heir to two rich predecessor communities. Our Lady of Good Counsel traces to July 1873, when about 20 area Catholics gathered for Mass in a Brooklyn public school; the mission was first called Sacred Heart of Mary. A cornerstone was laid on Broadview Road a year later, the mission was made a parish in 1894, and the priests of the Society of the Most Precious Blood took charge. A fire destroyed the church and school in May 1907; the parish rebuilt on Pearl Road, dedicating a new church on the Feast of the Assumption in 1909. The parish grew so quickly that in 1917 ground was broken for a larger church, the parish was renamed Our Lady of Good Counsel, and that church was dedicated on May 30, 1930. The OLGC School opened in 1918 and at its peak served more than 1,000 students under the Sisters of the Precious Blood.

Corpus Christi Parish (Legacy)
The second predecessor parish, Corpus Christi, was founded in 1935 to serve South Brooklyn's Polish Catholics after Bishop Schrembs received their petition. Named for the National Eucharistic Congress then meeting in Cleveland, the parish first met for Mass in the Pearl Road Recreation Center, dedicated a church in November 1937, and dedicated a new church and school in November 1954. The school closed in June 2005, and the last Mass at the 4850 Pearl Road church was celebrated on April 17, 2010, the Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday, just before the merger.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish runs a full religious-education program for children and ongoing formation for adults. Jonathan Kenzig serves as Director of Religious Education. Children gather for CCD and Little Saints classes Sunday mornings during the school year in the school building, and older students prepare for the Sacrament of Confirmation through a multi-year cluster program that Mary Queen of Peace hosts on rotation with the Bishop of Cleveland.

Mary Queen of Peace School
The parish school (4419 Pearl Road) is a Christ-filled learning community that fosters family, integrity, and spiritual growth. It serves preschool through 8th grade with small class sizes, scholarships for tuition, free breakfast and lunch, an affordable aftercare program, CYO sports, and free after-school clubs. The school continues the legacy of Our Lady of Good Counsel School (opened 1918) and offers Preschool for ages 3–PreK in two classrooms with half- and full-day options.

The parish regularly chants the Holy Rosary after the 11:00 AM Latin High Mass, and members of the choirs lead that prayer alongside visiting singers.
