History
Madre de Dios has long stood on Central Avenue in Winslow alongside its sister parish, St. Joseph, and the two were developed by the Diocese of Gallup to serve the town's Catholic community. In 2023, Bishop James Wall transferred the pastorate of the two parishes: Fr. Peter Short was reassigned to Our Lady of Mankind in St. Michael, AZ, and Fr. Cornelius Onyigbuo was assigned to both Winslow parishes effective July 1, 2023.
