Loras College's Catholic Worship & Faith community gathers students, faculty, staff, and neighbors for daily and Sunday Mass in Christ the King Chapel and Beckman Chapel on the college's Dubuque blufftop campus. Rooted in the college's 1839 founding by Bishop Mathias Loras as St. Raphael Seminary, the ministry today offers a rich sacramental life, Eucharistic adoration, and the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Fr. Dustin Vu, Vice President for Catholic Identity, Mission, and Vocation and former college chaplain, shepherds the community with more than 20 years of pastoral experience. Whether you are seeking daily Mass, quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, or the grace of confession, you will find a welcoming Catholic home here.

History
Loras College was founded in 1839 by the Most Rev. Mathias Loras, first bishop of Dubuque, who established St. Raphael Seminary to educate young men for the priesthood while also providing higher education to area citizens. The college operated under several names—St. Raphael Seminary, Mt. St. Bernard, St. Joseph College, Dubuque College, and Columbia College—before adopting its present name during its centennial in 1939. Women were first admitted in 1971.
