About Le Moyne College Campus Ministry · Syracuse, New York
Le Moyne College Campus Ministry is the Catholic pastoral and liturgical program serving Le Moyne College, a Jesuit institution in Syracuse, New York. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and guided by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola, it serves the religious and spiritual needs of the entire campus community, dedicated to the Jesuit ideal of cura personalis (care for the whole person). It welcomes and serves students, faculty, and staff of all religious affiliations and faith traditions, providing a Roman Catholic liturgical and sacramental life alongside opportunities for retreats, prayer, small faith communities, pastoral accompaniment, spiritual direction, and service. Its work is coordinated from the Grace Center for Faith and Community, located in the heart of the Panasci Family Chapel, which was established in Spring 2025 through the generosity of Katherine "Kathy" Grace Purcell '66 and her late husband John Purcell '65.

Le Moyne Campus Ministry offers a Catholic, Ignatian-flavored spiritual home on a Jesuit campus, centered in the Panasci Family Chapel and the newly established Grace Center for Faith and Community. Students, faculty, and staff of all faith traditions are welcome to participate in Sunday and weekday Masses, the weekly Wednesday Catholic Spirituality and Activity Night (Adoration, Benediction, and Rosary), retreats like Connections, Kairos, and the Senior Retreat, service-immersion trips, the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) process, and small faith communities. Whether you're looking for spiritual direction, social justice engagement, music ministry, or just a quiet place to pray, the office supports the whole person — mind, body, and spirit — in the nearly 500-year-old Jesuit tradition.

Grace Center for Faith and Community
Established in Spring 2025 through the generosity of Katherine "Kathy" Grace Purcell '66 and her late husband John Purcell '65, the Grace Center for Faith and Community is the new operational home for Campus Ministry. Located in the heart of the Panasci Family Chapel, it brings together mission integration, campus ministry, cultural and social engagement, faith formation, and the Le Moyne Way under one roof — creating a hub for reflection, service, and connection rooted in the Jesuit tradition.

Staff & Chaplaincy
The office is led by clergy, religious, and lay ministers who together shepherd the spiritual life of the campus. Fr. Richard G. Malloy, S.J., Ph.D. serves as College Chaplain and Special Assistant to the President for Mission Integration, while Fr. William Dolan, S.J. serves as Alumni Chaplain. Liturgy & Worship
The office provides a Roman Catholic liturgical and sacramental life for the campus community. Sunday Mass is celebrated weekly at 7:00 PM in the Panasci Family Chapel, and daily Mass is offered at 12:00 noon, Monday through Friday. All are welcome, including those of other faith traditions or no faith tradition.

Catholic Spirituality and Activity Night
On Wednesday evenings, the office hosts a Catholic Spirituality and Activity Night beginning at 7:30 PM in the Shanahan Chapel. The evening includes Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the Rite of Benediction, and the praying of the Rosary, giving students a regular midweek opportunity for prayer and Eucharistic devotion.

Music Ministry
Music ministry at Le Moyne is led by Music Minister Deborah Cunningham, who provides piano accompaniment for Masses, directs the chapel choir, and leads weekly rehearsals with choir members, cantors, and musicians. Students are invited to participate vocally or instrumentally in the liturgical life of the chapel.

Retreats
Offered through the Grace Center, retreats give students the time and space to unplug from daily life and rekindle relationships with God, themselves, and others. Rooted in Ignatian Spirituality, the retreat program welcomes students of all faiths. Nora O'Malley, Campus Minister for Retreats and Faith Formation, coordinates the offerings.

Faith Formation & OCIA
Faith Formation at Le Moyne supports students who wish to grow in their faith, learn about other traditions, or prepare to enter the Catholic Church. The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly RCIA) is coordinated through the Grace Center for those discerning baptism, confirmation, or reception into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Ignatian Offerings for Faculty & Staff
Recognizing that Ignatian spirituality supports the work and formation of employees as well as students, the office provides retreats and regular spiritual direction for Le Moyne faculty and staff. Spiritual direction — listening accompaniment that helps a person notice how God is at work in their life, prayer, and work — is available without participating in a retreat, with sessions offered face-to-face or via Zoom.

Service, Social Justice & Outreach
Service and social justice are core to the Jesuit mission. The office coordinates local, domestic, and international service-immersion trips, advocates for peace and justice issues, and runs programs that meet material needs on campus and in the broader Syracuse community.

Panasci Family Chapel & Sacred Spaces
Campus Ministry is located in the Panasci Family Chapel, which serves as the spiritual heart of Le Moyne's campus. The chapel complex houses the Daniel J. Mulhauser, S.J. Campus Ministry Center, the larger Madonna della Strada worship space, the smaller Shanahan Chapel, the Muslim Student Prayer Room, and the Drescher Community Room — reflecting the College's commitment to interfaith welcome alongside its Catholic identity.
