The Interfaith Chapel at Denver International Airport (DEN) is a Catholic chaplaincy serving travelers, airline crews, and airport workers inside one of the nation's busiest airports. Operated under the Archdiocese of Denver and tended by the clergy of St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in nearby Green Valley Ranch, the chapel hosts a weekly Sunday Mass as well as Mass on Holy Days of Obligation. Since its dedication in 1996, the space has been shared with an adjoining Islamic masjid, making it one of the earliest truly interfaith airport prayer facilities in the United States.

About the Interfaith Chapel
The Interfaith Chapel at Denver International Airport is a shared worship space inside the Jeppesen Terminal, hosting both a Christian chapel and an Islamic masjid. Catholic Mass is celebrated here every Sunday at 1:00 PM and on Holy Days of Obligation, with the ministry carried out by the priests of St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish under the Archdiocese of Denver.

History of the Airport Chapel
The current chapel was dedicated January 10, 1996, after an interfaith committee rebuilt the airport's prayer space in the 1990s to serve travelers and staff of multiple faith traditions. The project added an Islamic masjid said to be the first of its kind at an airport outside the Islamic world and was supported by the Archdiocese of Denver, the Colorado Muslim Society, the Colorado Council of Churches, the Rocky Mountain Rabbinical Council, Mayor Wellington E. Webb, and DEN's Department of Aviation.

Airport Ministry & Chaplains
Catholic pastoral care at DEN is provided by the priests of St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Green Valley Ranch. Fr. Jason Wunsch serves as pastor of the parish and chaplain of the airport chapel, with Fr. Vincent Bui assisting as parochial vicar and co-chaplain. Together they serve travelers, airline employees, and ground personnel throughout the airport.

Visiting the Chapel
The Interfaith Chapel is open daily and welcomes travelers, airport staff, and the surrounding community. Because airport chapels operate on public airport property, overhead announcements for Catholic services have been discontinued; current service information is available by picking up the paging phone inside the chapel.

Connection to St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish
St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Denver's Green Valley Ranch neighborhood provides the priests who staff the airport chapel. The parish began as a community in 2018 under the Archdiocese of Denver, with Fr. Jason Wunsch installed as pastor by Archbishop Samuel J. Aquila on September 16, 2018. It is a hub for African, Hispanic, and Vietnamese Catholics, celebrating weekend Masses in multiple languages, and took on responsibility for the DIA airport chapel ministry from the start.

Airport Chaplaincy in the Catholic Church
The DIA Interfaith Chapel is part of the broader Catholic 'Civil Aviation Apostolate' for the pastoral care of people on the move — passengers, airline crews, ground staff, visitors, and the refugees or unhoused who turn to airports in hard moments. The tradition of U.S. airport chaplaincies began in 1950–51 at Boston Logan and New York's Idlewild (now JFK), with the National Conference of Catholic Airport Chaplains organized in 1986 under the USCCB's Committee on Migration.
