History
The Catholic community of Revere began as a mission of Immaculate Conception in Everett in 1855, when about 500 Catholics — largely Irish famine immigrants — petitioned Archbishop Williams for their own parish. Father Joseph E. Mohan celebrated the first Mass in Revere on June 21, 1885 at Revere Town Hall, and then built the first Immaculate Conception church in 1887–88 at Beach Street and Winthrop Avenue with the donated labor of parishioners.

Mass and Liturgical Schedule
Immaculate Conception runs one of the more linguistically varied Mass schedules on the North Shore. Sunday worship includes a Portuguese Mass, an English Mass, and two Spanish Masses; weekday Masses are in English (with a Monday St. Jude Novena and weekday Spanish evening Masses), and Saturdays combine a Religious Education Mass, the Sunday vigil and a Neocatechumenal Mass.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
The parish runs an extensive Faith Formation program for children whose families do not attend Immaculate Conception School, as well as the sacramental preparation that the school does not cover. The two-year Confirmation program uses 'GIFTED WITH THE SPIRIT' from Pflaum Publishing for its first year and is open to candidates 13 and older. An RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) track exists for unbaptized adults seeking initiation. New enrollments run from July 1 to August 30 each year; the program starts in September.

Sacraments
All seven Catholic sacraments are coordinated through the Parish Office, with Baptism scheduled in advance on specific Saturdays. Children's Baptism is normally celebrated up to age 7; older children, teens and adults are routed through Faith Formation and the RCIA process. Marriage preparation is by appointment with the parish office in English, Spanish or Portuguese, and Confession is offered weekly on Wednesdays and by appointment.

Immaculate Conception School
Immaculate Conception School is the parish's PreK–8 Catholic elementary school, located at 127 Winthrop Avenue. According to the school's own 2025–26 figures, it enrolls about 370 students drawn from Revere, Winthrop, Chelsea, Lynn and surrounding communities, with families speaking 24 different languages at home and an average K–8 class size of about 20. The school offers a full-day 3-year-old Preschool and 4-year-old Pre-K program, and is fully integrated with the parish's sacramental preparation through First Communion.
