History and Heritage
Immaculate Conception traces its origins to the earliest Catholic settlement in Lansing. The cornerstone of the first church was laid in 1855 on land donated seven years earlier. For generations the parish was shaped by pastors such as Msgr. G. L. Haxmeier, who arrived in 1890 and later celebrated 60 years in ministry. Today it retains its historic identity while sharing life with neighboring parishes in the bluffs.
