Immaculate Conception Church in Hōlualoa is one of four historic mission churches belonging to the St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Established in 1840 as part of the broader parish, it serves the local community with Masses in English and Spanish. Our Parish
We are a Eucharistic community in the Roman Catholic Church. We are called as disciples to act justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God. Our parish includes St. Michael the Archangel Church in Kailua-Kona and four historic mission churches: Immaculate Conception in Hōlualoa, St. Paul’s in Honalo, St. Peter by the Sea in Kahaluʻu, and Holy Rosary in Kalaoa.
History
The parish was founded July 5, 1840, by priests of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. The first permanent church building was completed in 1850. The current Immaculate Conception Church building was dedicated in 2015 after being damaged in the 2006 Kīholo earthquake. The parish serves over 1,400 households with 50+ active ministries.
