Our History
In 1962, Monsignor Murray and two parish trustees convened to plan a new church, school, library, auditorium, and convent on 8.5 acres of land. Due to rising costs, the project was scaled back to focus on the church. Monsignor Murray left his diocesan post in 1964 to lead the parish effort. Architect Oresto DiSaia and liturgical consultant Louis Armento were hired. A door-to-door campaign raised funds. The first Mass was held in April 1968 in the unfinished church, and the church was blessed on June 30, 1968, with Bishop Russell J. McVinney presiding. The parish now serves over 7,500 people and opened a new Catholic school in 2009.
