Parish Identity & Mission

Holy Trinity Parish is the historic Catholic congregation of Kewaskum, Wisconsin, founded in 1861–1862 as one of the first churches in the village and now sharing a pastor and many ministries with neighboring St. Michael's Parish. The parish belongs to the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and shares its stated mission across both churches: 'As Roman Catholics of Holy Trinity and St. Michael's Parishes, we seek to grow in God's grace through prayer and the Sacraments of the Church, to proclaim the Gospel, to serve Christ in all people, and to attain the reward of eternal life.' Holy Trinity is the larger and more central of the two parishes in the collaborative, with its Gothic Revival church on Main Street, the attached parish school, and a network of chapel locations.

History of Holy Trinity Parish

Catholic settlers in Kewaskum organized their own congregation in 1861, with Andreas Miller donating the first parcel of land and Mathias Altenhofen donating two Main Street lots for the original church, which Bishop Henni dedicated to the Holy Trinity in 1863. The parish was a mission of Immaculate Conception in Barton until 1868, then became independent with Rev. John Mueller as its first resident pastor. A long pastorate under Rev. J. Grome added St. Bridget's as a mission, enlarged the original church, and built the first parish school c. 1880, staffed by Sisters of St. Agnes from Fond du Lac. The present cream-brick Gothic Revival church, designed by H. Messmer and Sons of Milwaukee, was completed in 1905 and consecrated in 1906 by Archbishop Sebastian G. Messmer. The parish celebrated its centennial in 1962 with a Solemn Mass presided over by Archbishop William E. Cousins. In 1998, a matching transept and rear entrance were added on the east side.

Mass & Worship Schedule

Holy Trinity offers a steady weekly schedule of Masses in English, supported by the seasonal rotation between Holy Trinity Church and St. Michael's for the Saturday evening Mass. Weekday Masses are celebrated in the main church on Tuesday evening and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. A first-Saturday morning Mass is also offered at St. Matthias Chapel in the New Fane area outside Campbellsport. Schedules may shift around Holy Days of Obligation; check the bulletin for updates.

Holy Trinity Catholic School

Holy Trinity School is a parish-affiliated Catholic school serving 3K through 8th grade on the same 305 Main Street campus as the parish church and offices, with about 142 students in a family-sized atmosphere. Faith is woven through the school day with daily classroom prayer, weekly school liturgies where students serve as faith leaders, and service projects that have benefitted local, national, and international organizations. The school is staffed by teachers committed to ongoing curriculum development and to academic excellence through the latest instructional strategies. Registration, tuition, and tuition-assistance information for the 2026–2027 school year is available through the school's main office.

Faith Formation & Religious Education

The K–11 Faith Formation Program, led by Shared Director Mrs. Jessica Herriges, serves both Holy Trinity and St. Michael's parishes and is the principal engine for sacramental preparation and ongoing religious education outside the parish school. Students in second grade receive First Reconciliation and First Communion after at least one prior year of Religious Education, and high school juniors are prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation through the High School Faith Formation Program, which includes required Mass attendance, Christ Encounter opportunities, and retreats. Registration, handbooks, and a program calendar are maintained on the parish website; payments are made through WeShare online giving.

Adult Faith Formation & OCIA

Adult faith formation includes ongoing Bible studies, adult catechesis, and the OCIA program (formerly RCIA) for adults seeking to enter the Catholic Church or complete their initiation. Mrs. Mary Breuer serves as the Shared Director of Pastoral Care and Adult Catechesis across Holy Trinity and St. Michael's parishes, coordinating OCIA, adult faith formation, and pastoral-care outreach to the homebound, hospitalized, and elderly.

Music & Sacred Music Ministry

Music ministry at Holy Trinity supports both parish liturgies and the parish school, and the parish hosts an annual Sacred Music Camp for students ages 8–17. The shared Music Director leads cantors, choirs, and the student body that sings at weekly school Masses; the Sacred Music Camp trains young singers in Gregorian Chant and Polyphony, culminating in music sung at the First Saturday Mass at St. Matthias Chapel.

Parish Ministries & Fellowship

Holy Trinity and St. Michael's Parishes share a wide network of ministries, coordinated through a Ministry Guide, an online Time and Talent form, and a Ministry Scheduler — all aimed at matching parishioner gifts to the work of the parish. Visible life is anchored by the Holy League for Men (third Thursdays at Holy Trinity with Adoration, Catechesis, Confession, and fellowship) and Sisters in Christ (last Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. in the Holy Trinity Cafe), with a parish Sporting Clays event each spring that draws men, women, and youth together. A Prayer Chain supports parishioners in need, and the Altar Guild prepares the liturgy and even sewed a chasuble for Fr. Magnor's fifth anniversary of ordination.

Parish Staff & Leadership

Parish life is led by Fr. Patrick Magnor, who serves as shared pastor of Holy Trinity and St. Michael's. He is supported by Deacon Ralph Horner, seminarian Collin van Waardenburg of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, and seminarian Deacon Joel Kolb, along with a combined staff that serves both parishes: directors of faith formation, faith-formation staff, a shared music director, a shared administrative assistant, and site-specific directors of administrative services. The school is led by Principal Mrs. Sammi Montini; liturgical and parish-facility needs are overseen by the Holy Trinity Custodian.

The Catholic Parishes of Holy Trinity and St. Michael's worship at four locations across the Kewaskum area: the historic Holy Trinity Church on Main Street in Kewaskum, St. Michael's Church on Forest View Road (also in Kewaskum), St. Matthias Chapel in the New Fane area near Campbellsport, and St. John of God Chapel on Highland Drive in Kewaskum. St. Matthias Chapel hosts the First Saturday 7:45 a.m. Mass, while St. John of God Chapel provides an additional worship site for the collaborative.

The Holy Trinity Office is open weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; the St. Michael's Office is open Tuesday mornings by appointment, and Deacon Ralph Horner is available on Wednesday evenings. Architecture & Heritage

Holy Trinity Church is documented by the Wisconsin Historical Society (Property Record HI14617) as an Early Gothic Revival house of worship built in 1905, designed by the Milwaukee firm H. Messmer and Sons and clad in cream brick. Notable exterior features include pointed-arch stained-glass windows with tracery and three- and four-story corner towers with buttresses, pyramidal roofs, and a pavilion spire with corner turrets. The church was consecrated in 1906 by Archbishop Sebastian G. Messmer. A gable-roofed transept and rear entrance were added to the east side in 1998, with materials and detailing deliberately matched to the original 1905 construction. The parish is not listed on the National or State Register, but the building is recognized as a heritage-worthy piece of Kewaskum's Catholic past.
