Holy Trinity Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in the Diocese of Sioux City. Formally established by Bishop R. Walker Nickless in 2006, it unified the Catholic worship sites of Webster County under a single parish name while continuing to maintain the historic names of each church. Parish History
Catholic faith in Webster County goes back to the 1850s; the parish marked 150 years of Catholic life in the county in 2006. In the late 1800s, the original Corpus Christi Parish was subdivided as Fort Dodge grew, and Father Edmond Heelan (later the second Bishop of Sioux City) founded Sacred Heart Parish in 1897, with the present Romanesque/Prairie-style church dedicated in 1922. Holy Rosary was split off from Sacred Heart in 1946, and rural sites such as St. Joseph in Duncombe and the Barnum church served outlying communities.
Consolidation into Holy Trinity Parish
Beginning around 2001–2002, a regional priest shortage and aging church buildings made it difficult to staff seven separate worship sites. In 2000 the Catholic Team Parishes of Webster County were formed, and in 2006 Bishop R. Walker Nickless formally decreed the establishment of the Parish of the Holy Trinity. A long-range planning process reduced the parish from four priests to three and, by 2008, closed the Barnum, Duncombe, and Holy Rosary sites. The final Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church was held in 2019.

Building the New Holy Trinity Church
Ground was broken in August 2018 on a $12 million, fully handicap-accessible Holy Trinity Catholic Church on the St. Edmond campus on Sixth Avenue North. Project manager Keith Kolacia (a parishioner and owner of Kolacia Construction) and Monsignor Kevin McCoy led the effort, which intentionally incorporated liturgical furnishings, art, and the rosette stained-glass window from the historic Sacred Heart Church, along with pieces from Corpus Christi, so the new church visibly carries the parish's past into its future. The first Mass in the new church was anticipated in late June or early July 2020, with Bishop Nickless consecrating it.
