History of Holy Trinity Parish
Holy Trinity is one of the historic Catholic mission parishes of northeastern Indiana. Its roots go back to 1852, when Rev. Maria Franz Salesius Brunner, C.P.P.S., purchased 240 acres of land in Wabash township near the present-day community of Trinity. Brunner was the founder of the American branch of the Society of the Most Precious Blood, and his land purchase laid the foundation for what would become a parish serving rural Catholic families in Jay County. The Church of the Most Holy Trinity was formally established in 1860, and the first church building was erected the following year under the direction of Rev. Rochus Schuele, C.P.P.S. As the Catholic population of the area grew, a larger church was needed; the present brick church was completed and dedicated in 1886 and remains the parish's worship space today. Throughout the twentieth century Holy Trinity was served by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood and was much more than just a Sunday Mass — it operated a parish school for local children and served as a community anchor for Catholics spread across the surrounding farmland. In 2020, after more than 160 years under Precious Blood leadership, the parish was clustered with Immaculate Conception (Portland), St. Joseph (Winchester) and St. Mary's (Dunkirk) into the Holy Family Pastorate (now known as the Jay and Randolph Catholic Pastorate) and transitioned to being staffed by diocesan priests.

Parish Ministries & Organizations
Holy Trinity's parish life is supported by a network of lay-led sodalities, committees and apostolates that newcomers are warmly invited to join. The Ladies' Sodality and the St. Joseph's Men Sodality provide fellowship and service opportunities for adults, while Religious Education Teachers and Helpers carry on the parish's long tradition of forming children in the faith — the parish once ran a school, and Catholic formation of the young remains central to its mission. The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) gives young people a peer community rooted in Catholic life, and the Rosary Makers craft rosaries that are distributed for missionary and devotional use. Behind the scenes, the Finance Committee and the Buildings and Grounds Committee care for the 1886 church and the parish's other facilities, while the Music Ministry leads congregational singing at weekend and holy-day liturgies.

He succeeded the late Father Christopher Roberts, who served as pastor of St. Mary and St. Joseph in Winchester and who died in 2020. Diocese & Wider Pastorate
Holy Trinity belongs to the Diocese of Lafayette in Indiana and is one of four parishes that together make up the Jay and Randolph Catholic Pastorate (Holy Family Pastorate). The other parishes in the cluster are Immaculate Conception in Portland, St. Joseph in Winchester, and St. Mary's, which alternates between Dunkirk and Union City. The parish cluster model — formed in 2020 when Holy Trinity transitioned from Precious Blood to diocesan staffing — allows the four small rural parishes to share priests, staff, religious-education resources and sacramental schedules, while each parish keeps its own identity, Mass schedule and parish ministries. Some Sunday Masses in the cluster are celebrated bilingually in English and Spanish (St. Mary on the first three Sundays of the month, Immaculate Conception on the 4th Sunday).
