About Holy Spirit · Las Vegas, Nevada
Holy Spirit Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in the Summerlin area of southwestern Las Vegas, Nevada, serving the fast-growing south Summerlin community at 5830 Mesa Park Drive near Russell Road and Hualapai Way. Established in December 2007 by the Diocese of Las Vegas (now Archdiocese of Las Vegas), it was the newest parish in the diocese at founding and initially worshiped on the campus of adjacent Bishop Gorman High School. After a successful capital campaign, the parish dedicated its own contemporary, 27,846-square-foot, southwest-style church (seating about 1,600 — the second-largest in the diocese) in 2018. Today it ministers to more than 3,000 registered families through a wide range of formation programs for children, youth and adults, ASL-interpreted liturgy, outreach ministries and devotional life.

Why belong here
Holy Spirit is a large but warm Summerlin parish where, as the parish puts it, you can 'come as you are and expect a warm welcome' — whether you're a cradle Catholic, new to the faith, or still figuring things out. Its ministries reach every stage of life: SOAR Family Faith Formation for infants through 5th grade, a multi-year Confirmation prep program for teens with retreats and XLT Adoration nights, OCIA for adults becoming Catholic, youth ministry, a parish choir and a Foundation Youth Choir, a 'Gifts of the Spirit' gift shop, and outreach such as the Children's Grief Ministry ('Draw It Out'). With five weekend Masses (one ASL-interpreted) and a daily 7:30 AM Mass, plus weekly Confession, Friday Adoration, and sensory-friendly liturgies, Holy Spirit offers a full liturgical and sacramental life in a contemporary southwest-style church right next to Bishop Gorman High School.

History
Holy Spirit was created in late 2007 to bring Catholic ministry to south Summerlin's booming residential growth. The first weekend Masses were celebrated December 1–2, 2007, with about 300 families registering that opening weekend. For roughly a decade the parish worshipped on the Bishop Gorman High School campus — most often in the school cafeteria known as Tiberti Commons — while plans for a permanent church were delayed by the Great Recession. As the community grew past 3,000 families, the parish launched the 'Building God's House, Our Home' capital campaign with the Steier Group, raising the funds to construct a 27,846-square-foot church on a nearly five-acre site. The new church was dedicated in 2018 and, with seating for about 1,600, was described as the second-largest sanctuary in the diocese.
