History of Holy Spirit Parish
Holy Spirit's story begins in 1973 when a handful of worshippers met in a private garage in Horizon City. Within two years the community was large enough to be established as a mission of Our Lady of the Valley Parish (May 1975), and it eventually grew through improvised worship spaces — a sales office and a fire station — before buying and remodeling a small home on McMahon and Acra Streets, which Bishop Metzger consecrated in 1976. A purpose-built church followed in 1980 under Bishop Flores, and the building was expanded in 2001 with a larger worship area, two halls, and three classrooms. The 35th anniversary was celebrated in 2008.
