Parish History

Founded in September 1936 by Father George Keefe, Holy Spirit began with Masses in the auditorium of Cretin High School. In April 1937, a building site was acquired from an orphanage for $8,500, and construction began. The church and school opened in September 1937, with a dedication Mass and open house in October. The original structure served until 1949, when the church moved across the street. Under Fr. Michael Papesh, the parish expanded facilities including elevators and unified school programs. Father Tom Margevičius was installed as pastor on July 13, 2025.

Ministries

The parish offers Liturgical Ministry (Ushers, Altar Servers, Extraordinary Ministers, Lectors) and Music Ministry (Traditional Choir, Contemporary Choir, Children’s Choir). Volunteers are needed and can be trained by Katie Mendenhall.
