It is a small-town parish with a deep missionary heritage (its 1901 church was built before any Catholics lived in town) and a strong devotion to Father Emil Kapaun, the Pilsen-born Korean War chaplain whose sainthood cause the whole parish promotes.

Holy Redeemer, Tampa — A Historic Oratory
Holy Redeemer is the Tampa campus of Holy Family Parish. The current church stands on Main Street in the small Marion County town of Tampa. The parish's own history notes that the original Holy Redeemer Church was dedicated in 1901 even though there were no Catholics then living in Tampa — a sign of how Catholic missionaries planted churches across rural Kansas in advance of the faithful. A replacement church was built in the 1930s after the original structure burned in 1935.

Holy Family Parish — The Wider Community
In mid-1991, the five parishes in Marion County were consolidated into one parish with four worship locations. On July 1, 1993, the official name of the parish was chosen to be "Holy Family Parish." The four worship sites today are St. Mark in Marion, St. Patrick in Florence, St. John Nepomucene in Pilsen, and Holy Redeemer in Tampa. Together they form one parish family under Pastor Fr. Isaac Coulter, served by a Parish Life Coordinator, a Parish Life Administrator, and a parish secretary.

Parish Life and Ministries (Guilds)
Holy Family Parish organizes parish service around 'guilds' that touch every area of parish life. In a 2025 bulletin, the pastor invited every parishioner (who has received First Communion) to sign up for at least one liturgical role and one guild. The guilds cover worship, hospitality, formation, youth, outreach, buildings, and the parish's signature Emil Kapaun devotion.

Venerable Father Emil Kapaun
One of the most distinctive features of Holy Family Parish is its devotion to Venerable Father Emil Kapaun. Kapaun was ordained on June 9, 1940, as the first son of Pilsen's St. John Nepomucene parish to be ordained, and he served his native parish as administrator in 1943 before going to serve in the Korean War. He died a martyr's death in a Korean prisoner-of-war camp in 1951, was declared a Servant of God in 1993, and his canonization cause was formally opened in July 2008. The whole parish — including its Tampa oratory — promotes this cause through a dedicated Emil guild.

Sacraments and Faith Formation
The parish office coordinates all sacramental preparation for Holy Family Parish, including Baptism, Marriage, PSR (Parish School of Religion), and OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults — the modern name for the RCIA process). Bulletins regularly invite families to enroll children in PSR and adults into OCIA, and youth ministry gathers on Wednesday evenings.
