History of the Parish
According to the parish's own history page, Holy Name traces its origin to 1869, when Father Phillip Colleton, a Jesuit from the Osage Mission in St. Paul, Kansas, established a mission station in the home of George and Ellen Martin in Old Parker and built a small wooden mission church in 1870. The church was moved into Coffeyville in 1874 and a new church at 606 Maple was dedicated in June 1899 under Father Hermanns, the first resident pastor. Father Tierney purchased the pasture land that became the present parish complex in 1902; the rectory was added in 1907 and the present church was built and dedicated in 1916. The parish celebrated the church's centennial in 2016.

Growth of Holy Name Catholic School
The Sisters of St. Joseph opened a grade school in the old church at 4th and Willow in 1917; that building was replaced with a new school and parish hall in 1923. The school campus grew steadily over the decades — a gym, stage, and four classrooms in 1955, a new convent in 1967 (the gift of James and Elizabeth Roberts), two classrooms and two meeting rooms in 2002 (made possible by the Robert Clements estate), a renovated rectory and restored Wicks organ in 2006, air conditioning for the gym in 2010, and a new roof over the church, rectory, school, and convent in 2012. Today Holy Name Catholic School serves kindergarten through sixth grade and is described as a 'proud tradition of Catholic education and community service.'

Holy Name Catholic School
Holy Name Catholic School is a K–6 parish school that has been in continuous operation since 1917. Holy Name runs a complete faith-formation program alongside its day school. PSR (Parish School of Religion) meets for students in grades 1–12 on Wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the gym. Sacraments at Holy Name
The parish publishes its sacramental policies in every weekly bulletin. Parents seeking Infant Baptism are asked to meet with the pastor before scheduling the baptism, and to contact the rectory to make an appointment. Couples preparing for Matrimony must be registered members of Holy Name Parish and must begin arrangements at least six months in advance. Adults interested in becoming Catholic are invited to contact the pastor about the OCIA process. The parish also offers homebound Communion visits on Thursdays to those unable to attend Mass.

Music & Liturgical Heritage
Holy Name's liturgical music is anchored by a custom-made Wicks pipe organ installed in the church in 1925 and restored in 2006 through the generosity of a donor. The parish currently engages a Guest Music Instructor, Mrs. Jessica DeTar, to support the school music program. First Friday Masses include Benediction and Adoration following Mass, and Tuesday evenings pair Adoration with Vespers in the church.
