Holy Ghost and St. Bernadette Catholic Parish serves two campuses in Omaha and Bellevue, Nebraska, united as one parish family. Founded in response to growing Catholic populations in South Omaha, Holy Ghost Church began in 1916 with pastoral care from St. Mary’s, while St. Bernadette Parish was established in 1963 with no building and began with Mass in a home basement. The parish offers a full range of sacraments, ministries, and community events, including youth sports, faith formation, and seasonal dinners. It is deeply committed to Catholic education through its school and religious education program.

History
Holy Ghost Church’s history began in 1916 when the growing Catholic population in South Omaha strained the resources of St. Mary’s parish. St. Bernadette Parish was founded in 1963 with no building, and Mass was held in a home basement. The church was dedicated on May 8, 1966, and the school opened in 1966. The parish celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1988, 50th in 2013, and has undergone renovations including new stained glass windows in 2011 and altar redecoration in 1990.
