About Holy Family Parish
Holy Family Parish is rooted in faith, empowered by the Eucharist, and strives to model the Holy Family of Nazareth for all members of the parish and the surrounding community. The parish motto, "A Loving Family," reflects its focus on family life and welcome to newcomers, returning Catholics, and visitors of every background. Holy Family sits in the Fairmount suburb on the western edge of Syracuse, in the Diocese of Syracuse, and serves the area with frequent Masses, a Catholic school, youth and adult faith formation, and a wide range of parish ministries.
Parish History
Holy Family was established as a mission church in 1935. Its first Mass was celebrated in the dining room of a local hotel — an unusually humble beginning that shaped the parish's close-knit, family character. A permanent church building was completed in 1940 and affectionately became known as "Cathedral West" because of its standing in the western suburbs. By the mid-1990s the original building had served for more than fifty years. In 1996 the present church was completed. Octagonal in plan with a tall steeple, it features modern seating, stations of the cross, and stained glass depicting various saints. On the campus, parishioners also built a Lourdes grotto shrine to Our Lady of Lourdes from stones they gathered themselves, and the grotto today houses a relic of St. Bernadette.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Holy Family invests heavily in faith formation across the age span. Children and youth are served by a dedicated Director of Faith Formation together with a Confirmation Coordinator / Middle School Youth Minister and a Director of Youth Ministry and Evangelization. Adults have their own Adult Faith & Evangelization track, and the parish runs a formal RCIA / OCIA program (Becoming Catholic) for those inquiring about or preparing for full initiation into the Catholic Church.

Catholic School
Holy Family Parish operates an on-site Catholic school serving students K through 12 in faith formation. The school shares the parish campus with the church and grotto and is administered by its own principal and office staff. A Before- and After-School Care (BASC) program and a Summer Camp are run by the school.
