Holy Family Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in Poland, Ohio, in the Mahoning County portion of the Diocese of Youngstown. Founded in 1956 by Bishop Walsh to serve a growing Catholic community of 325 families, the parish takes the Holy Family — Jesus, Mary, and Joseph — as its patron. Today it operates Holy Family School (Pre-K through 8th grade), the ECLC preschool, a 6,000-square-foot Parish Center, and a constellation of outreach ministries including the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Knights of Columbus Council #15573, the Dorothy Day House, Beatitude House, and a parish food pantry. Holy Family is pastored by Very Rev. Martin Celuch, J.C.L., and collaborates with St. Paul the Apostle Parish in New Middletown.

Holy Family Parish on Center Road in Poland, Ohio is a Roman Catholic community in the Diocese of Youngstown that gathers around the patronage of the Holy Family — Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Our History
Bishop Walsh established Holy Family Parish in 1956 for the 325 Catholic families in Poland, who had previously been served by parishes in Struthers, Boardman, and New Middletown. The community celebrated its first Mass on October 21, 1956, in the Poland Union School auditorium, then broke ground on a combined church/school complex on April 29, 1957. The first Mass in the new structure was celebrated on December 8, 1957, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The eight-classroom school opened in 1958 under the Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown and, after 47 years of religious leadership, transitioned to lay teachers in 2005. A new church was built in 1997, and a 6,000-square-foot Parish Center opened in 2009.

Our Patron: The Holy Family
The parish takes its identity from the Holy Family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Parishioners are invited to model the welcome of Joseph, the generosity of Mary and Joseph, and the mutual love and learning of the Holy Family. This charism shapes the parish's emphasis on hospitality, faith formation, and care for those in need.

Holy Family School
Holy Family School is a Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8 Catholic elementary school on the parish campus at 2731 Center Road, Poland, Ohio. The school exists to assist and support each family in living the message and ministry of Jesus Christ, while providing an exceptional academic foundation and promoting the intellectual, physical, and social development of each child. In 1981, the school piloted an all-day kindergarten program — the first of its kind in Greater Youngstown.

ECLC at Holy Family (Preschool)
The ECLC at Holy Family is the diocesan Early Childhood Learning Center program housed on the parish campus. It offers a Preschool track (3-year-olds, Tuesday–Thursday) and a PreK track (4-year-olds, Monday/Wednesday/Friday), with optional before- and after-care.

Religious Education & Youth Ministry
The parish runs a CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) religious education program and a youth ministry (Edge) under the direction of the DRE. Children's Liturgy of the Word is offered during the 10:00 AM Sunday Mass from September through May for children in Preschool through 4th grade, using Pflaum Gospel Weeklies and Children's Worship Bulletins. OCIA meetings for adults preparing to enter the Church are listed on the parish calendar at 6 PM.

Outreach & Charitable Ministries
Holy Family is well known for its outreach to those in need in the Mahoning Valley. The parish hosts the Dorothy Day House of the Youngstown Catholic Worker Initiative, supports Beatitude House, runs a parish Food Pantry (and supports the Poland Pantry), maintains the Giving Tree at Christmas, and partners with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Knights of Columbus Council #15573 in fundraising, hospitality, and direct service.

Knights of Columbus Council #15573
The parish's Knights of Columbus council was organized in October 2012 and today numbers approximately 84 members. The council prays the rosary together at 7:00 PM on the third Monday of every month in the Fr. Conley Chapel, with the council meeting following at 7:30 PM in the Parish Center. Membership is open to Catholic men 18 and older in good standing with the Church.

St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society at Holy Family is part of an international Catholic organization that provides emergency basic food and living-expense assistance to neighbors in need. Monetary collections are taken on the last Sunday of the month outside of church, and the society offers support for individual situations of need and partners with the Youngstown Soup Kitchen and the Poland Pantry.

Dorothy Day House & Garden
The Dorothy Day House is a ministry of the Youngstown Catholic Worker Initiative that lives out Dorothy Day's vision of hospitality, peaceful resistance to injustice, and personal relationships. Holy Family Parish is committed to providing the evening meal at the house on the first Wednesday or Thursday of each month, with volunteers from the parish working alongside the Third Source committee.

The parish campus at 2729 Center Road includes the current church (built 1997), the Fr. Conley Chapel (used for Eucharistic Adoration, Children's Liturgy of the Word, and the Knights' monthly rosary), and the 6,000-square-foot Parish Center (completed 2009), which hosts gatherings of up to 400 people and serves as the meeting space for many parish ministries. Hope Hall, the Emmaus House, and the Bride's Room are also used for smaller group meetings and Children's Liturgy of the Word.
