History & Setting
Columbus, New Mexico is the small border town made famous on March 9, 1916, when General Francisco 'Pancho' Villa led the last ground invasion of the continental United States. The Catholic community of the area is largely Hispanic, and the mission serves this border population. Because Columbus is too small to support a full parish, the church operates as a mission and has been served since March 2019 by priests from St. Ann Parish in nearby Deming.
