Holy Family Catholic Church is a vibrant, spirit-filled faith community located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri, in the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. Founded in 1980, the parish grew from 340 families to more than 900 within a quarter century and now serves the community at 919 NE 96th Street. Following the example of the Holy Family of Nazareth, the parish celebrates, grows, and lives its faith through parish life, religious education, outreach, and Eucharistic adoration. It offers weekend and weekday Masses, weekly Adoration, the Becoming Catholic (OCIA) process, an active PSR program, and a wide range of ministries for all ages.

Our Story: The Holy Family Journey
Founded in 1980 in the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph, Holy Family grew quickly — from 340 families at its first census in 1980 to more than 900 by the early 2000s. The church was consecrated and dedicated in September 1982, and the parish has continued to expand its campus through the decades, including a 1987 rectory, a 2000 parish hall, a 2011 parking lot expansion, and the Together We Grow capital campaign (2017–2019) that added 14 classrooms, a dedicated youth space, and 112 more parish hall seats. A downloadable 30-year history book tells the full story of the parish from inception to 2010.

The parish is led by Pastor Fr. Steven C. Rogers and supported by a full complement of pastoral, administrative, music, formation, and facilities staff. Pastoral Associates Christen Cota and Rob Lickteig (Family Life Ministry) coordinate formation and parish life; Jena Duffy directs the Religious Education program; Katie Kaminski serves as Liturgy & Music Administrator, joined by Adult Choir Director Janell Thome and Bell Choir Director Cathy Barron; Shelly Mitchell is the Business Manager, Patty Rose leads Stewardship & Development, and Dee Carver is the Facilities Manager.

Becoming Catholic (OCIA)
The Becoming Catholic process — the parish's implementation of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) — welcomes catechumens, candidates baptized in another Christian tradition, and baptized Catholic adults seeking Confirmation and Eucharist. Inquirers meet weekly with a sponsor or godparent for prayer, study, and reflection, experiencing parish life in a way that respects each individual's pace. Children & Youth Faith Formation
Holy Family offers a robust slate of formation opportunities for children and youth. The Parish School of Religion (PSR) serves children from Pre-K through 8th Grade, with catechists and aides guiding them on their faith journey. Vacation Bible School runs for one week in July, 9 AM to Noon, for grades Pre-K through 5th. The parish also points families to Northland Catholic schools and links all adult volunteers working with minors to the Protecting God's Children program.

Prayer Ministries
Parishioners can pray in many ways at Holy Family. The Rosary is prayed at 7:30 AM every Sunday, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held all day on Thursdays in the Chapel. A Prayer Chain carries requests by email to parishioners willing to intercede for one another.

Service & Outreach
The Service Outreach Committee coordinates the parish's many projects serving North Kansas City and beyond. Helping Hands offers practical aid — transportation, meals, and minor home repairs — to families in need. The Communion Ministry to the Sick and Homebound serves Catholics at North Kansas City Hospital, Benton House Care Center, New Mark Care Center, and parishioners in their homes. The parish also collects non-perishable food and prepares meals at Bishop Sullivan Center, serves dinner at the Ronald McDonald Longfellow House, partners with Love INC, and runs a Giving Tree adoption program at Christmas.

Groups & Community
Holy Family's adult community life includes the Knights of Columbus Holy Family Council (Catholic men 18 and older, meeting the second Thursday at 7 PM) and the Men's Club, which combines fellowship (sports nights, Royals games, cards) with fundraising for parishioners in need — including Lenten fish fries, trivia nights, and Texas Hold'em tournaments. The Men's Club meets the second Monday at 7 PM, September through May.
