Holy Family Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish in Davidsonville, Maryland, in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, serving approximately 2,000 families in Anne Arundel County's South County. The parish traces its roots to the 1880s, was formally established as a mission in 1929, became an independent mission in 1980, and was raised to parish status in 1982. History of Holy Family Parish
Holy Family's roots reach back to the 1880s, when French priests were sent to serve rural Davidsonville. Although those first priests left — they had expected a posting near Washington, D.C. — a worshiping community took hold, gathering first in a private residence and then, in 1929, in a small chapel that was ordered through the Sears Roebuck catalog and shipped by rail. That mail-order chapel, with its plain cedar shingles and white steeple, still stands on the parish grounds and is part of a registered historical location in Anne Arundel County. For decades Holy Family was a mission, at different times served by priests from Our Lady of Sorrows in Owensville and by the Redemptorists. In the 1970s, sixty committed laypeople divided the surrounding area into sixty sections, went door-to-door counting Catholics, and used the data to persuade the Archdiocese of Baltimore that Holy Family could stand on its own. The mission was made independent in 1980 and on August 15, 1982, became an independent parish. A new, larger church was completed in 1991 under then-pastor Father Thomas Ryan, and the community has since grown to roughly 2,000 families.

Our Church and Facilities
The parish campus sits on West Central Avenue in Davidsonville and includes the original 1929 mail-order chapel, the 1991 main church, and a newer Spiritual Life Center that houses the Adoration Oratory. According to the parish, the campus has grown alongside the community to accommodate spiritual, educational, and social needs, and continues to evolve as one of the larger parishes in South County.

Devotions and Prayer Life
Beyond the Mass and the sacraments, Holy Family sustains a rich devotional life. The Rosary is prayed several times a week, a Holy Hour with Exposition, Rosary, and Lectio Divina is held on Thursday evenings, Stations of the Cross are offered on Friday mornings during Lent, and Healing Prayer Teams minister after each Mass on the first weekend of the month. The parish's Prayer Network accepts prayer requests for special intentions.

Faith Formation and Religious Education
The parish's Office of Religious Education, directed by Dodie Seppi, runs Children's Faith Formation for children in PreK4 through 8th grade, with sessions on Sunday mornings (9:00–10:00 am and 10:30–11:30 am) and Monday afternoons (4:45–5:45 pm). Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion is coordinated by Beth Supple. RCIA for adults is led by Charles Burk. The parish also supports a Religious Education Committee and a Children's Liturgy of the Word at Mass for ages 4 through second grade.

Sacraments
The parish prepares members for and celebrates the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. Parents should call the Parish Office as early as possible to arrange a Baptism; a Baptism Preparation Class is required for first-time parents. Couples are asked to contact the Parish Office at least six months before their anticipated wedding date. The Faith Formation Office coordinates First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion for children, and RCIA/RCIC welcome adults and older children into the Church.

Inclement Weather Policy
During inclement weather Holy Family follows Anne Arundel County Public Schools. If county schools are closed or delayed, the 9:00 am daily Mass and parish activities are cancelled. Travelers can also visit catholicmasstime.org to find Mass times while on vacation.
