Welcome to Holy Family

Holy Family Catholic Church welcomes parishioners and visitors 'Home to the Eucharist,' with daily Mass Monday through Friday, four English Sunday Masses, a Saturday Vigil, and a Spanish Saturday evening Mass. The parish campus includes the main church, the Bishop William G. Curlin Faith Formation Center, the Holy Spirit Chapel (added in 2020), and the Holy Family Chapel used for morning adoration.

Parish History

Holy Family traces its roots to 1976, when the Diocese of Charlotte acquired land on Kinnamon Road, and to 1978, when the Elizabeth Ann Seton Guild organized the new parish. The first Mass was celebrated July 15, 1978 at Clemmons Presbyterian Church. Paulist Father Robert Scott was installed as the first pastor in 1980 by Bishop Michael Begley, with 170 registered families. Bishop Michael Begley broke ground on a permanent worship space; new furniture arrived in December 1984 and the first Mass was celebrated in the new building, with 550 registered families. Bishop John F. Donoghue later dedicated the completed church, and a 14,200-square-foot Parish Center was built to support Faith Formation and parish life.

• 1976: Diocese purchases 10 acres on Kinnamon Road and a home on Knob Hill Drive.
• 1978: First Mass at Clemmons Presbyterian Church (July 15); Masses also held at Clemmons Moravian Church and Vogler's Funeral Home.
• 1980: Paulist Father Robert Scott installed as first pastor; parish named 'Holy Family' for the Year of the Family.
• 1984: First Mass celebrated in new worship building (550 families).
• 1990–1995: Parish grows from 765 to 1,100 families; picnic shelter built on four acres donated by Amp Corporation.
• 2002: $3.2 million Capital Campaign launched for a 23,000-square-foot church seating 1,200.
• 2005 (Nov 27): Bishop William G. Curlin and Bishop Peter J. Jugis dedicate new Holy Family Catholic Church.
• 2020 (June): Curlin Center renovated; Holy Spirit Chapel (135 seats) and Father Michael J. Buttner Library added.
• 2024: Parish celebrates 40th anniversary.

Religious Education & Youth Ministry

Holy Family's Religious Education program is rooted in Catholic tradition and supports families as they grow in faith, prepare for sacraments, and deepen their relationship with God. Programming is provided for every age — from Pre-K through high school — plus a monthly Intergenerational Faith Formation option for the whole family.

• Pre-K 2, Pre-K 3, Pre-K 4 & Kindergarten — Sunday mornings during the 9:15 Mass.
• Kindergarten through 5th Grade Faith Formation — Wednesdays at 4:15 or 6:15.
• Edge (6th grade) and Life Teen (high school) — Sunday evenings at 6:00.
• Intergenerational Faith Formation — once a month, Sundays 1:30–4:30.
• Sacramental preparation and Confirmation tracks available.
• Registration opens each spring for the following academic year.

Adult Formation

Adult Education at Holy Family is dedicated to evangelizing within the parish and providing continuing faith development through a variety of programs and small groups. Bible studies typically run 8–10 weeks and meet in the library and classrooms of the Curlin Center.

• Women's Small Church Group — Tuesdays 10:00–11:30 AM in the Family Center, using 'Sunday by Sunday' and rotating Bible studies (no meetings in summer).
• Bible Study — Wednesdays 10:00–11:30 AM in the Curlin Center.
• Bible Study — Sunday evenings 6:00–7:15 PM in the Curlin Center.

Liturgy & Worship Ministries

The Liturgy Commission plans and assists in coordinating liturgical, para-liturgical and special celebrations at Holy Family. Parishioners serve in a wide variety of roles before, during, and after Mass, with most roles open to confirmed Catholics and many welcoming teens.

Hispanic Ministry

Holy Family ministers to Spanish-speaking Catholics in the Clemmons and Winston-Salem area through a weekly Spanish Mass and the work of its Hispanic Ministry Coordinator. The parish is one of the bilingual parishes in the Diocese of Charlotte.

Catholic Memorial Gardens at Westlawn Cemetery

Holy Family's Catholic Memorial Gardens at Westlawn Cemetery provide a consecrated burial option for parishioners and their families. Bishop Peter J. Jugis formally blessed the new cemetery and columbarium as part of the parish's 2020 campus transformation.

Knights of Columbus Council 9499

The Knights of Columbus Council 9499 is the council of Catholic men affiliated with Holy Family Parish. Council 9499 has its own history dating back to the years surrounding the parish's founding and supports parish life through service and fundraising.
