The Parish of Mary, Mother of Mercy is a unified Catholic parish serving the communities between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes in Upstate New York, formed in 2016 by the merger of Holy Cross in Ovid, St. Francis Solanus in Interlaken, and St. James the Apostle in Trumansburg. It offers weekend and weekday Masses across its three locations, with a shared parish office in Interlaken. History
The Parish of Mary, Mother of Mercy was established in 2016 when Bishop Salvatore Matano decreed the union of Holy Cross (Ovid), St. Francis Solanus (Interlaken), and St. James the Apostle (Trumansburg). The merger was announced in October 2015, with a planning committee formed from each parish. The new parish name, Mary, Mother of Mercy, was chosen in June 2016. The corporate merger took effect in January 2017, with a shared finance council and a new parish office in Interlaken. The parish continues to thrive as a unified faith community.
Sacraments & Ministry
The parish offers sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Anointing of the Sick, and Marriage. Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Fridays, 6:30–7:30 p.m., at St. Francis Solanus, or by appointment. The parish depends on member support to fulfill its mission of sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
