History of Holy Cross and IHM
The parish commemorates its 179th anniversary in 2026. A video was produced to document the history of the Catholic Church in D'Hanis, with contributions from parishioners and Tammy Kossaeth. The history of Immaculate Heart of Mary Mission in Yancey is still being compiled.
Ministries
The parish offers a wide range of ministries including Altar Servers, Altar Society, Bereavement Ministry, Eucharistic Ministers, Finance Council, Greeter/Usher, Guadalupana Society, Perpetual Care Cemetery Committee, Youth Ministry/CYO, and Lectors.
Faith Formation
The parish provides structured programs for youth and adults, including the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) and Vacation Bible School. The 2025-2026 Faith Formation Schedule is available online.
Sacraments
The parish offers all seven sacraments: Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, Marriage, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, and Holy Orders. Sacraments are celebrated regularly and by appointment for the homebound.
