Deacon Kurt Zakrzewski

Deacon Kurt Zakrzewski was born in Columbus, Nebraska, and baptized at St. Anthony Parish. He moved to Cornell at age 12, where he met his wife Phyllis of 43 years; together they have five children and 22 grandchildren. He works as a yard operator at Mule Hide Manufacturing in Cornell and was ordained a deacon by Bishop William Patrick Callahan on June 23, 2020, at St. Joseph the Workman Cathedral in La Crosse. He is assigned to Holy Cross Parish in Cornell, Sacred Heart Parish in Jim Falls, and St. Anthony Parish in Drywood.

Faith Formation & Religious Education

Deacon Kurt Zakrzewski teaches CCD (the parish's religious-education program for children) and leads a men's group at the parish. The parish participates in the Diocese of La Crosse's Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) process through the broader McDonell Area Catholic Schools (MACS) community, welcoming those exploring the Catholic faith or completing their sacraments.
