Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church is a faithful Catholic parish in Mount Airy, North Carolina, established in 1921 and part of the Diocese of Charlotte. Stewarded by Rev. Fr. Peter K. Nouck, the parish has grown from a small mission visited by Benedictine clergy to a community of approximately 400 families served through liturgies in both English and Spanish. Organized around a teaching, building, and serving mission, the parish celebrates a full traditional devotional life — daily Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Vespers and Benediction, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and First Saturday and First Friday devotions. In October 2024 the parish purchased a larger former church building at 520 Rockford Street and is now in a Capital Campaign to renovate it for permanent Catholic worship.

Our Mission — Teach, Build, Serve
Holy Angels' parish mission statement is organized around three verbs — teach, build, and serve. The parish teaches the Faith as expressed in the Catechism of the Catholic Church, offers a K-12 Faith Formation program in partnership with parents, and engages in ecumenical activities testifying to the Catholic Faith. It builds a church community through the celebration of the Liturgy inspired by the Holy Spirit at the Second Vatican Council, welcoming all — adults and children — and receiving those desiring to live the faith through the Sacraments of Initiation. The parish serves as faithful stewards of Time, Talents, and Treasures, working with other churches and groups to care for the poor and sick throughout this rural community and to foster Christian hospitality.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith Formation at Holy Angels is for children in 1st grade through 8th grade. Children are immersed in the Catholic faith and prepared for the Sacraments. Families must be registered members to enroll, and all students are obligated to attend Sunday Mass and Holy Days — Faith Formation students sign Mass attendance sheets at their classroom doors.

Office Hours & Staff
The parish office is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM (closed on holidays and feast days). Father Peter's office hours are Tuesday 3:30–5:30 PM, Wednesday–Thursday 9:00–11:00 AM and 3:00–4:00 PM, and Friday 9:00–11:00 AM. Appointments are scheduled by calling the parish office in advance. Knights of Columbus Council #11406
The Knights of Columbus gather at the Monsignor Duncan Center behind the church on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. The council supports 'Operation LAMB' (Least Among My Brethren), runs a Coats for Kids Campaign cleaned free by Hutchens' Cleaners, builds accessibility ramps for handicapped parishioners, helps fund seminarians, and assists widows within the parish.

Columbiettes Auxiliary #11406
The parish Columbiettes meet on the second Monday of each month (September–June) in the Monsignor Duncan Center — social at 6:30 PM, meeting at 7:00 PM. They run seasonal fundraisers (fall bake sale, Mardi Gras, spring), host an annual retreat at St. Francis Springs, assist the Knights with Operation Lamb, sponsor the Angel Tree with the Salvation Army, support Toys for Tots and Teens, contribute to ARC and Fragile X research, and give gift cards to parish families in need at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and throughout the year.

Capital Campaign — 'Rebuilding Our Church, Renewing Our Faith'
Having outgrown the Monsignor Duncan Center for Sunday worship, the parish purchased the former church at 520 Rockford Street in October 2024, with the approval of Bishop Peter Jugis and the Diocese of Charlotte. The building is free from debt; the parish is raising $1.5 million over three years to renovate the structure and grounds into a proper Catholic place of worship. The new worship space will seat 260+ and provide much-needed room for the roughly 400 registered families.
