History
According to the Diocese of Tucson's published list of Cochise County parishes, Good Shepherd Mission's chapel was dedicated in 1992 and has been supervised continuously by St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Sierra Vista. St. Andrew's itself was founded in 1958 as the Catholic community grew alongside Sierra Vista and Fort Huachuca, and its current pastor, Monsignor Gregory (Greg) Adolf — a former Lutheran minister who was ordained for the Diocese of Tucson in 1991 — also serves as the supervising pastor of Good Shepherd Mission. A parish-published description notes that the small mission community has been actively caring for its worship space, including work to upgrade the in-church sound system so that everyone, regardless of where they are seated, can hear the liturgy clearly.
