Founded in 1971 by Fr. Jim Flynn and Fr. History & Founding of Epiphany
Epiphany was born from the vision of the Second Vatican Council (1962–1965). Co-founders Fr. Jim Flynn and Fr. Dick Fowler, along with about 200 founding families, established the Catholic Community of Epiphany on June 16, 1971, with the first Mass celebrated June 20, 1971, at St. Thomas Orphanage in Anchorage, KY. The parish takes its name from the day the two priests were surveying land for the new community — January 6, 1971, the Feast of Epiphany. The current church building was dedicated on January 5, 1975. From the very beginning, the founding members unanimously agreed that 10% of parish income would be set aside to support local, national, and global agencies serving those most in need.

Unlike many surrounding Catholic parishes that focus on Catholic schools, Epiphany's faith community is committed to lifelong formation and education for all members and to being socially responsible and just in daily life. Each year the parish rededicates itself to its core values, whose text circles the interior of the worship space as a constant reminder of the community's charge.

Worship & Liturgy
Epiphany's worship life centers on its distinctive worship space with unfinished surfaces and glass walls that connect the liturgy to the surrounding campus — a daily reminder that the community's work in the world remains unfinished. Mass is celebrated in English and Spanish, with the 9:00 AM Sunday Mass interpreted in ASL and livestreamed. Most daily Masses are also livestreamed on the parish YouTube channel. Music and the proclamation of Scripture are central to the parish's commitment to liturgical excellence.

Sacraments
Epiphany prepares parishioners for and celebrates the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church. The parish places particular emphasis on hospitality for funeral liturgy — offering a Vigil Prayer Service, visitation in the Narthex prior to the liturgy, and a bereavement reception for family and friends. Funerals can also be pre-planned at any time by submitting a pre-plan to the parish office.

Social Responsibility & Outreach

Healing Blanket Ministry
Epiphany's Healing Blanket Ministry gathers twice a month to create blankets given as tokens of God's healing to those who receive them. The ministry welcomes new members and accepts donations of yard-length cotton fabric, yarn, and monetary gifts.

Campus, Labyrinth & Facilities
Set on a wooded lot in eastern Jefferson County, Epiphany's picturesque campus is home to trees, grass, and the deer and foxes that the parish community describes as revealing God in nature. A permanent outdoor walking labyrinth is available for prayer and reflection, and an indoor 'Finger Labyrinth' allows those with mobility or vision limitations to trace the path with their fingers.
