Catholic Campus Ministry at Eckerd College helps students grow spiritually, ask questions about faith, and serve the campus and local community. It operates within Eckerd's Center for Spiritual Life and is supported by the Diocese of Saint Petersburg through the Catholic Ministry Appeal.
History and Context
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, parish priests from the diocese visited Eckerd's campus for Sunday Mass, meals, and faith sharing. Those visits were paused during the pandemic with the hope of resuming. In Fall 2024, the ministry received a Community Impact Grant from the Catholic Foundation.
Ministries and Sacraments
The ministry provides Catholic Campus Ministry, campus Mass and fellowship, faith sharing, service outreach, and fellowship meals. Sacraments include Mass and reconciliation by appointment, along with spiritual direction and pastoral counseling through the chaplain.
