About Communion of Saints Parish

Communion of Saints Parish is the Catholic community of Cleveland Heights and East Cleveland, united by faith in Jesus Christ and celebrated through the Eucharist. The parish operates across two campuses — St. Philomena Church on Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland and St. Ann Church on Coventry Road in Cleveland Heights — sharing one pastor, one parochial vicar, and a unified staff. The parish mission commits members to living the gospel through worship, education, caring for all people, and being a sign of Christ's presence.

History of St. Philomena Parish

St. Philomena Parish was founded in 1902 at 13824 Euclid Avenue in East Cleveland, established to serve Irish-American and German-American Catholic families moving east of downtown Cleveland. The parish was created alongside other late-19th- and early-20th-century East Side parishes such as St. Agnes (1893), St. Thomas Aquinas (1898), and St. Edward (1885). The 90th anniversary on August 16, 1992 was marked by a Mass with Bishop Anthony M. Pilla. In 2010, the parish was merged with neighboring parishes into Communion of Saints Parish in the Diocese of Cleveland.
