History

Annunciation's roots stretch back to the mid-nineteenth century. The parish formally marked its centenary in 1958, and on that occasion Mary T. Kelly compiled 'History of the Church of the Annunciation of Paris, Kentucky: on the occasion of the centenary of the church,' published by W. S. Welsh Print Co. The volume, held at the Lexington Public Library and digitized through HathiTrust, traces the parish from 1858 through 1958 and remains the principal published record of the parish's first hundred years. Today the parish continues to build on that heritage through its downtown church, its parish school, and its mission in Carlisle.
