History of the Parish
The parish was established in 1908 and has been a fixture of Catholic life in Clark Mills for more than a century. In recent years it has entered into a regional clustering arrangement with sister parishes — St. John the Evangelist (New Hartford), St. Patrick's/St. Anthony's, and St. Mary's — creating a 'Parish Cluster Area' (PCA) that allows the small parishes to share programming and resources for youth and family faith formation.

Lent & Easter Schedule 2026
Lent and the Paschal Triduum are celebrated cooperatively with St. John's Church, New Hartford. Ash Wednesday Mass is offered at 8:00 AM at the Church of the Annunciation. Stations of the Cross are prayed every Tuesday following the 8:00 AM Mass during Lent. The Triduum liturgies of Holy Thursday (7:00 PM), Good Friday, and Holy Saturday (8:00 PM Easter Vigil) are held at St. John's, New Hartford. Easter Sunday Mass returns to Annunciation at 9:30 AM.

Parish Staff
The parish is led by Pastor Rev. Matthew E. Rawson, who also serves as Pastor of St. John the Evangelist in New Hartford. Retired Deacon Gil Nadeau continues to assist in ministry. Karen Acee serves as the parish Office Manager. Music at Mass is provided by organists Paul O'Neil and Karen Pohorecki; Paul O'Neil is also the composer of the music used in the parish's acclaimed 'Power of One' Confirmation program video.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Faith Formation (parish religious education) is coordinated by Erin Robinson and is open to children of parish families who do not attend Catholic school. Registration is held each fall in the Parish Hall. Classes meet through the academic year, preparing children for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation.

Youth Ministry & Confirmation
The parish operates a dedicated Youth Ministry (the 'COA' — Church of Annunciation — Youth Ministry page on Facebook is the main hub) and a Confirmation program called 'Power of One.' In the Power of One program, 10th-grade candidates design and carry out service projects that make a difference in the local community. The Power of One program received the National Conference for Catechetical Leadership (NCCL) 'New Wineskin Award.' Each spring the youth display their projects at the Power of One Ice Cream Social in the Parish Hall.

Faith Camp (PCA Collaborative)
Each summer Annunciation joins forces with St. John's New Hartford, St. Patrick's/St. Anthony's, and St. Mary's for 'Faith Camp' — a week-long Vacation Bible School-style day camp for children entering Kindergarten through 5th grade. Camp typically runs Monday through Friday from about 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon (with some years running 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM) and features songs, games, crafts, and faith sharing. Older teens serve as Crew Leaders and Station Helpers, earning service hours. In recent years the camp has hosted more than 60 children with about 15 teen leaders, and offers an adult Faith sharing option for parents.

Music & Liturgy
Music at weekend and weekday liturgies is led by parish organists Paul O'Neil and Karen Pohorecki. Parish musicians have also composed original music for parish programs — notably Paul O'Neil's original song (written with Cheryl Smith) used in the 'Power of One' video that accompanied the program's NCCL 'New Wineskin Award.'

Parish Outreach: The Country Pantry
The Country Pantry is the parish's food pantry outreach ministry, linking parishioners and neighbors in need with food assistance in the Clark Mills area.

Parish Events & Fellowship
Church of the Annunciation is well known for its warm parish fellowship traditions, which raise funds for the parish and build community. Recurring events include the Harvest Ham Dinner, Basket BINGO, the EXODUS Christian Concert, the annual Roast Pork Dinner, Small Group Bible Study, a Public Rosary Rally, and the Palm Sunday Breakfast. The 'AFV' (Annunciation Family Volunteers) also sponsors the Poor Man's Supper during Lent. Annunciation Movie Nights and the Adult Steubenville Conference round out the calendar.

Sacraments
Information about the seven sacraments — Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders, and Matrimony — is provided through the parish's 'Sacraments' web page. Reconciliation is regularly scheduled on Saturday afternoons before the Vigil Mass and during Tuesday Adoration.
