History
Christ the King Parish was canonically erected in 1999 from the former parishes of Assumption (Gilpin), St. Martha, St. Catherine & its mission St. Francis, Hyde Park. Co-pastors Fr. Joseph Bonafed and Fr. Richard Mackiewicz were appointed; Fr. Bonafed became sole pastor in 2000. Fr. Joseph Trupkovich was appointed pastor in 2003. A new church was built and dedicated August 5, 2012. Parish office renovations completed in December 2013, new office opened January 6, 2014. Partnered with St. Gertrude Church in Vandergrift in February 2014, with Fr. James Loew, O.S.B., as administrator. Part of Region 2, Deanery I of the Diocese of Greensburg since 2001.
Pastor
Father Alan N. Polczynski, JCL, was installed as Pastor on September 25, 2023. A native of Lower Burrell and 1984 graduate of Burrell High School, he earned a bachelor’s degree in theater arts from Point Park University, and Master of Divinity and systematic theology degrees from Saint Vincent Seminary. Ordained in 2007, he has served in various parishes and roles including chaplain at Greensburg Central Catholic Junior-Senior High School and Assistant Episcopal Master of Ceremonies for the Diocese of Greensburg. He is currently completing his licentiate in canon law at The Catholic University of America.

The parish is supported by a team including Office Coordinator Kristen Pazman, Safe Environment Coordinator Ron McCauley, Facilities Manager Jimmy Williams, Assistant to Facilities Manager Dylan Shipman, Regional Business Manager Angela Reese, and Organist and Director of Music George Pecoraro.
Sacraments
The parish offers Baptism, with families required to be registered members. Baptism preparation includes completing forms and attending sessions with the Faith Formation team. Other sacraments are not listed on the site.
