The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in El Paso, Texas, had its cornerstone laid on July 31, 1914, and was dedicated on Thanksgiving Day, November 29, 1917. Designed by the St. Louis architectural firm Barnett, Haynes & Barnett, it was chosen as his cathedral by Bishop Anthony J. Schuler, S.J., the first Bishop of El Paso. It serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso, which was established by Pope Pius X on April 3, 1914.
