The Cathedral of St. Joseph in St. Joseph, Missouri, was commissioned by Bishop John J. Hogan and designed by architect Patrick F. Meagher; its cornerstone was laid September 12, 1869, and the first Mass was celebrated March 17, 1871, with interior work continuing into the 1880s. Built as the cathedral of the Diocese of St. Joseph (erected 1868), it today serves as a co-cathedral of the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph alongside the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City. The cathedral underwent a $15 million renovation and was rededicated in May 2023.

  • Co-cathedral (with the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City) of the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph, formed by a 1956 merger
  • Commissioned by Bishop John J. Hogan, first bishop of the Diocese of St. Joseph (established 1868)
  • Designed by architect Patrick F. Meagher in the Romanesque Revival style
  • Part of the Cathedral Hill Historic District, added to the National Register of Historic Places on June 15, 2000
  • Completed a $15 million renovation and was rededicated in May 2023
