The Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption serves as the mother church and episcopal seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Saginaw, Michigan. St. Mary's parish was established in 1853, and the present Gothic Revival brick church—the third structure for the parish—was built from 1901 to 1903 and dedicated on July 23, 1903. St. Mary's became the cathedral when Pope Pius XI established the Diocese of Saginaw on February 26, 1938. The interior was reconfigured in a major $4.7 million renovation begun in 2017.

  • Underwent a $4.7 million renovation beginning in 2017, including a rebuilt 1930 Kilgen pipe organ
