St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Chapel is the Catholic worship community at Cannon Air Force Base in eastern New Mexico, home of the 27th Special Operations Wing. The chapel operates as part of the Cannon Community Chapel complex at 104 W. Trident Avenue and serves active-duty airmen, their families, retirees, and DoD civilians stationed at the base. Worship is offered alongside Protestant services, with Catholic Mass celebrated Sundays and on weekdays in the Blessed Sacrament Room.

St. Francis of Assisi Chapel exists to bring the sacraments and pastoral care to the military community of Cannon AFB, where families move frequently and the rhythms of deployment shape daily life. Sunday Mass, mid-week Masses, and weekly Confessions are offered alongside Religious Education for K-12, RCIA/RCIC, Confirmation classes, and adult faith formation. Lay ministry groups such as the Knights of Columbus, a Catholic Men's Group, and Bible study give parishioners a place to grow in fellowship and service in the high desert of eastern New Mexico.

About the Cannon Community Chapel
Cannon Community Chapel is the consolidated worship center at Cannon AFB, designed to provide 'world class ministry' to airmen, their families, retirees, and DoD civilians. The chapel staff provides religious observances, spiritual care, and fellowship opportunities on a daily basis. Catholic and Protestant services share the same building and Sunday-morning rhythm.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
Religious Education at the Cannon Chapel is designed for the transient military family: classes are organized by grade level (K–12) and run immediately after Sunday Mass. Adult Catholics can pursue ongoing formation through Confirmation prep, RCIA/RCIC, and a continual adult education class, all scheduled on Sundays in the late morning.

Lay Ministries & Faith Communities
Beyond sacramental life, the chapel supports a vibrant lay ministry ecosystem for both Catholic and Protestant worshippers. Men and women of the chapel meet weekly in gender-specific fellowship, while the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Men's Group anchor Catholic fraternity and service. Bible Study is open to all.

Seasonal & Holiday Catholic Events
Cannon's Catholic chapel observes the seasons of the liturgical year with parish-wide events, beginning with the Las Posadas Novena in mid-December. The annual Living Nativity brings the base community together for a family-friendly encounter with the Christmas story, and the chapel publishes a full Christmas worship schedule each year.

The Cannon Chapel is led by a Wing Chaplain supported by a Deputy Wing Chaplain, a Chapel Superintendent, and a network of Unit Religious Support Teams (RSTs) embedded with operational and support squadrons across the 27th Special Operations Wing. A Deployed RST stands ready to support wing members forward.

Contact & Visiting
The chapel office is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. An on-call chaplain is available 24 hours a day for emergencies, sacramental needs, and pastoral care. Visitors should bring a valid DoD ID for base access; the chapel is located on Cannon AFB in Clovis, New Mexico.
