Blessed Sacrament is a historic Catholic parish in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Texas, founded on March 25, 1901 by Bishop Edward Joseph Dunne, who appointed Father J. L. Campbell as its first pastor. The parish today serves more than 3,500 parishioners with a strong Hispanic identity and bilingual ministry, offering Mass in both English and Spanish every day of the week, and educating over 1,200 children in its catechism program. The current church building and rectory were dedicated in 1954, while the parish's school — originally Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy, opened in 1901 — grew into today's Bishop Dunne Catholic School. History of Blessed Sacrament Parish
On March 25, 1901, Bishop Edward Joseph Dunne erected Blessed Sacrament parish in the Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas and appointed Father J. L. Campbell as pastor. The first church was built on 12th Street and Grand Street, an address later renamed to North Marsalis Avenue. Throughout the twentieth century, buildings were added while others were demolished; the current church building and rectory were dedicated in 1954. The parish's school, Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy, opened in late 1901 under the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur and was renamed Bishop Dunne Catholic School in the early 1960s, relocating to Rugged Drive where it continues as a diocesan institution. The parish celebrated its 125th anniversary, looking back on more than a century of continuous Catholic life in North Texas.

Becoming Catholic — RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) at Blessed Sacrament is the normal path for adults and older children seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church. Drawing on the ancient practice of the Church restored by the Second Vatican Council, the parish walks seekers through the Pre-Catechumenate, Rite of Initiation, Catechumenate, Rite of Election, Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil, and Mystagogy. An RCIA team of sponsors guides, supports and instructs those discerning membership, with the parish emphasizing that 'all are welcome.'
