Blessed Trinity Parish is the unified Roman Catholic parish of Greenfield, Massachusetts, formed on August 14, 2022, by the merger of Holy Trinity Parish (established 1868) and Blessed Sacrament Parish (established 1960). The parish worships across two historic church buildings — Holy Trinity Church at 135 Main Street and Blessed Sacrament Church at 221 Federal Street — under the Diocese of Springfield. Its motto, 'One Family. One Parish. One God.,' reflects the unification of Greenfield's Catholic community after more than 60 years of operating as separate parishes. Blessed Trinity runs a food pantry, the Bread of Life Kitchen, prison and hospital ministries, perpetual Eucharistic adoration, religious education, and an upcoming parish preschool, while supporting Alternatives Pregnancy Center and an active youth group.

Our Story — From Two Parishes to One Family
Catholic life in Greenfield began in 1843, when only four Catholic families lived in town and visiting missionaries celebrated Mass just once every three months. Holy Trinity Parish was formally established in 1868, and its Carpenter Gothic church was built in 1871 to serve a congregation of about 3,500 from across Franklin County. A century later, the growing Catholic population prompted Bishop John A. Marshall to create a second parish — Blessed Sacrament — established in 1960. That parish met for a decade in the former Holy Trinity School auditorium before its own church at 221 Federal Street opened in 1970.

Holy Trinity Church — The Mother Church of Franklin County
Holy Trinity Church at 135 Main Street is the historic mother church of the Catholic faithful in Franklin County. Its large Carpenter Gothic building, constructed in 1871, was later raised and a bell tower added. The church hosts the 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM Sunday Masses, the 12:05 PM Wednesday Mass, and 8:30 AM Masses on Thursday and Friday, along with the weekly Bread of Life community meal every Thursday from 5:00–6:00 PM.

Religious Education & Parish Preschool
Blessed Trinity's faith formation programs serve learners of all ages. Religious Education classes for children, Confirmation preparation, and the OCIA process for adults entering the Catholic Church are coordinated by Director of Religious Education Virginia Christi. A new parish preschool is being launched under Catherine Cuff, Director of Educational Outreach, expanding the parish's service to young families in Greenfield.

Outreach & Charitable Ministries
Reaching beyond its walls, Blessed Trinity runs one of the most extensive Catholic outreach networks in Franklin County. A parish food pantry distributes groceries three days a week, the Bread of Life Kitchen serves a free community meal every Thursday evening at Holy Trinity Church, and the Saint Dismas Jail Ministry brings pastoral care to inmates. The parish also partners with Alternatives Pregnancy Center, a life-affirming nonprofit serving women facing unplanned pregnancies.

Liturgical & Music Ministries
The Liturgical Ministries invite parishioners to share their time and talent at the altar. The Worship Commission coordinates lectors, altar servers, ushers and greeters, sacristans, and environmental sacristy volunteers. Music ministry is led by Choir Director Paul Calcari and Organist/Choir Director Stephen Glover. All training is provided, and new ministers are always welcome.

Sacraments & Sacramental Preparation
The Parish Office helps parishioners prepare for every sacrament of the Church. Baptisms are typically celebrated within eight weeks of birth; marriages require at least nine months of preparation; adults seeking Confirmation or full communion enter through OCIA. The Anointing of the Sick is offered during pastoral visits, alongside the Sacrament of Confession, or by appointment.
