The Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a Ukrainian Greek Catholic (Byzantine rite) parish in Miami, Florida, founded in 1953 to serve the Ukrainian Catholic community of South Florida. The parish celebrates the Divine Liturgy in both English and Ukrainian and welcomes all who wish to worship in the Eastern Christian tradition. Reconciliation and spiritual direction are also offered in Spanish and Italian. It belongs canonically to the Ukrainian Diocese of Saint Josaphat in Parma (Ohio) while being geographically within the territory of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.

This is a Byzantine-rite Ukrainian Catholic parish that has served South Florida's Ukrainian community since 1953, offering Divine Liturgy in both English and Ukrainian each Sunday. Visitors are explicitly welcomed — Catholics and all people of good will who wish to worship God in the Byzantine tradition — and the Sacrament of Reconciliation and spiritual direction are offered in English, Ukrainian, Spanish, and Italian. Members travel from across Miami-Dade, Broward, the Keys, and even Melbourne, drawn by the parish's choir, Ukrainian-culture Sunday School, charitable outreach, and theatrical group, together with a richly iconographed sanctuary.

Our History
Beginning in 1949 Ukrainian Catholics in Miami began to gather in rented spaces to celebrate the Divine Liturgy. In 1953, given the growth and stability of the congregation, the Ukrainian Catholic Parish of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was formally founded. The cornerstone of the present church was blessed on February 24, 1958 by Archbishop Constantine Bohachevsky, and the interior icons were painted by Sviatoslav Hordynsky and Sorin Beltsiv. Today the parish continues to serve Ukrainian Catholics from across Miami-Dade, Broward, the Keys, and as far north as Melbourne.
