Assumption Parish (officially the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary) is a Roman Catholic parish in New Haven, Missouri, in Franklin County, part of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Located at 603 Miller Street, the parish serves more than 280 families in this small river-town community on the Missouri River. It is currently pastored by Reverend Jeffrey A. Maassen, with Father Timothy J. Henderson and Father John C. Deken serving as associate pastors. The parish shares its pastoral team with neighboring St. Francis Borgia Parish in Washington, MO, and runs its own parish school, Assumption Catholic School (BVM).

Parish History

Assumption Parish traces its origins to 1858 as St. Mary Magdalen at Miller's Landing, a mission of Washington, Missouri. From 1863 until 1894, the mission was served by the Jesuits of Washington. In 1894, a new church was built and the parish was renamed the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The current brown-limestone church was constructed in 1923 to replace an earlier frame building.

Assumption Catholic School (BVM)

Assumption Parish operates its own parish school, Assumption Catholic School, often referenced as Assumption BVM School.
